Graceful

In Graceful, Muna Yousef gives the horse a presence built almost entirely from line. The head inclines gently toward the right, while strands of mane sweep outward in loose purple curves. The white ground allows the animal’s profile to remain clear without enclosing it in a detailed setting.

Fine contours describe the muzzle, ears, and neck, then become more tangled and expansive through the mane. This change in rhythm gives the composition its character. Some lines establish the form with precision; others seem to follow the movement of hair, carrying the eye beyond the horse itself.

The restrained palette draws attention to gesture rather than surface detail. With so much space around the marks, each curve has room to register. The lowered head can suggest gentleness or a moment of inward attention, while the spreading mane keeps the image from feeling entirely still.

Graceful offers a quiet encounter with an animal whose strength is expressed through lightness. The work rewards close looking at the changing pressure and direction of its lines, while retaining an immediate clarity from a distance. Its simplicity makes the relationship between movement, form, and open space especially visible.
